This past weekend Toronto played host to the G20 Summit, which also hosted large groups of protesters and police. This stencil was created by the street artist Posterchild to poke fun of Harper’s army of police officers attacking the peaceful protesters.

Posterchild’s Comments:

“I don’t like you Mr. Harper.

I don’t like what you’ve done to my democracy, my country, and my city.

You have a reputation as a bulldog- a bully. But you are a coward, man. When democracy gets too hot for you, you prorogue parliament or mobilize a unprecedented private security force- along with unprecedented powers. Your sniveling cowardice is detrimental to our democracy and I have had enough.

In a more truthful world, perhaps the private security you brought in -and gave me and my fellow citizens the bill for- would brandish shields bearing your name, not the misnomer “Police”. It is an abuse to the good name that the Police of Toronto have worked hard to build to call them that.

In a more just world, perhaps you would be forced to work that security yourself.”

Following up on a successful opening of his latest exhibition Devil’s Disciple, Neckface drops a new 156 pg. page book entitled The Devil Made Me Do It. The book features an introduction by KAWS and an essay by Carlo McCormick as well as photography by Erik Foss, Jerry Hsu, Ako Jefferson, Atiba Jefferson, Norman Lendzion, Athena Razo, Giovanni Reda and Chris Shonting. This duo of images is officially part of the “Hero” craze, they being the cover of a “collectable” case for DJ Hero’s Renegade Edition. Eminem and Jay-Z have tracks on this edition of the game, and they hired Studio Number One to whip up a lovely image of these two legendary music making faces. No word on if the images will be produced anywhere else but on the DJ Hero ephemera, but DO expect them to maybe make an appearance in some fine art in the future, as Shepard Fairey like to explore all options with images once he’s done the illustration work. Colors, mediums, rubyliths, everything and anything.
